My Favorite Philanthropic Endeavors and Why They Inspire Me
Hi friend 👋🏼,
Philanthropy has always been a cornerstone of my life, shaping not only how I give my time and resources but also how I view the world. It’s about fostering community, inspiring others, and creating opportunities for growth and change. Among the many causes I care about, a few stand out for the deep connection I feel to their missions: Global Glimpse, Our Lady of the Elms, and The Junior League. Each of these organizations aligns with my values, and supporting them brings immense joy and purpose to my life.
1. Global Glimpse: Empowering the Next Generation of Global Citizens
Travel has played a transformative role in my life, teaching me lessons about resilience, empathy, and adaptability. That’s why Global Glimpse resonates so deeply with me. This organization provides high school students—particularly those from underserved communities—with opportunities to engage in leadership and cultural exchange programs in countries like the Dominican Republic, Ecuador, and Costa Rica.
What I love most about Global Glimpse is its commitment to creating globally conscious young leaders. Through immersive travel experiences, students step out of their comfort zones and into a world that broadens their horizons. They develop not only an understanding of different cultures but also a sense of responsibility to create positive change within their own communities.
Why It Matters to Me:
I’ve always believed in the power of travel to shift perspectives and ignite passion. Programs like Global Glimpse are essential because they make these life-changing experiences accessible to those who might not otherwise have the opportunity. It’s inspiring to see students return home with a renewed sense of purpose, ready to take on challenges in their schools and communities.
How You Can Help:
Global Glimpse thrives on donations, corporate partnerships, and volunteer mentors. Even small contributions can make a significant difference, funding scholarships that enable more students to experience this transformational program.
2. Our Lady of the Elms: Empowering Young Women Through Education
As an alumna of Our Lady of the Elms, this all-girls Catholic school holds a special place in my heart. My time at the Elms was foundational in shaping the woman I’ve become, providing me with not only an excellent education but also a deep sense of confidence, faith, and leadership.
The school’s mission to empower young women through academic excellence and values-driven education is one I wholeheartedly support. The Elms is more than just a school—it’s a community that fosters curiosity, independence, and a commitment to service. From its rigorous curriculum to its emphasis on leadership and spirituality, the Elms prepares students to excel in any path they choose.
Why It Matters to Me:
As someone who values mentorship and lifting others up, I believe in the power of education to change lives. The Elms nurtures students to dream big and gives them the tools to make those dreams a reality. Supporting this institution is my way of giving back to a community that has given me so much.
My Involvement:
I’m proud to be part of initiatives like Career Day, where alumni return to inspire and guide current students. It’s incredibly fulfilling to share my journey and show these young women what’s possible with hard work, resilience, and determination.
How You Can Help:
Consider donating to the Elms’ scholarship fund, attending their fundraising events, or volunteering your time to mentor students. Every effort helps keep this incredible institution thriving for future generations.
3. The Junior League: A Legacy of Leadership and Service
The Junior League is an organization that perfectly embodies the spirit of women empowering women. As a member of the Junior League of Cleveland, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside incredible women who are passionate about making a difference in our community.
The Junior League is a global organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, developing leadership, and improving communities. What sets it apart is its focus on training women to become civic leaders and agents of change. Whether it’s addressing food insecurity, supporting literacy programs, or organizing fundraising events, the Junior League’s impact is far-reaching and deeply meaningful.
Why It Matters to Me:
The Junior League isn’t just about service—it’s about growth. It’s a space where women can develop skills, build relationships, and contribute to causes that matter to them. I’ve grown so much through my involvement, learning not only how to lead but also how to collaborate with others to achieve shared goals.
My Role:
As the Event Director for the Junior League of Cleveland, I have the unique opportunity to help plan and execute events like the annual fundraising gala and other community initiatives. One of my favorite projects has been "Spring Together," an event that combines creativity, fun, and philanthropy to support local causes.
How You Can Help:
Joining the Junior League is a wonderful way to give back while also gaining valuable skills. If membership isn’t for you, consider attending their events, donating to their programs, or partnering with them to support local initiatives.
What These Organizations Have Taught Me
Each of these organizations has taught me profound lessons about the power of community and the importance of giving back:
Global Glimpse reminds me that the future is bright when we invest in young leaders.
Our Lady of the Elms reinforces the importance of a strong educational foundation for empowering women.
The Junior League shows how collective action can create meaningful change.
Supporting these causes has enriched my life in countless ways. It’s not just about what I give but what I gain—perspective, gratitude, and the joy of seeing others succeed.
Why Philanthropy Matters
Philanthropy is about more than money; it’s about time, energy, and heart. It’s about looking at the world and asking, How can I help? How can I be part of the solution? Supporting causes you’re passionate about connects you to something bigger than yourself. It creates a ripple effect of positivity, impacting not only the recipients but also everyone involved.
How You Can Get Involved
If you’re inspired to make a difference but aren’t sure where to start, here are a few tips:
Identify Your Passions: Think about the issues or causes that matter most to you. Whether it’s education, the environment, or social justice, there’s a nonprofit or organization aligned with your values.
Start Small: You don’t need to make grand gestures to create an impact. Donating a few hours of your time or a small amount of money can make a big difference.
Leverage Your Skills: Think about how your unique talents can benefit an organization. Are you great at event planning? Social media? Fundraising? Offer your expertise!
Spread the Word: Sometimes, the most valuable thing you can do is raise awareness. Share your favorite causes with friends and family, and encourage them to get involved.
